Repair Procedures for a Stihl BR600 Backpack Blower Primer

The Stihl BR600 Magnum backpack blower is a professional-grade piece of gear that is determined by a primer bulb to supply the proper combination of fuel and 2-cycle oil into the engine to assist with starting the machine. Stihl recommends pushing the primer bulb a minimum of five days prior to starting the blower, even when the bulb is filled with fuel. When you notice that the primer bulb is not drawing fuel from the tank and discharging it into the carburetor, it’s time to replace the primer.

Disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug and make certain it can not come in contact with the spark plug. Elimination of the spark plug wire removes any possibility that power can be provided to the engine of the compressor during the fix.

Remove the screws which hold the air filter cover in place. Remove the air filter cover and air filter. Remove the air filter housing from the side of this machine. Removal of the components allows you entry to this primer bulb, fuel line and carburetor.

Disconnect the gas line which leads from the back of the primer bulb casing from the port which connects it into the carburetor. Disconnect the fuel line which connects the primer bulb to the gas cylinder. Remove both fuel lines in the rear of the primer bulb assembly too. Discard both fuel lines.

Remove the screws which hold the primer bulb assembly instead of disconnect the primer bulb assembly in the blower. Push the primer arc backward from the casing and discard it. Pop the newest primer bulb into the empty hole at the tip bulb assembly.

Combine the replacement fuel line which leads from the rear of the primer bulb assembly to the port on the carburetor. Attach the other fuel line into the back of the primer bulb assembly and into the fuel tank in precisely the same point which you removed the old one. Replacement of the gas lines in the same time you replace the buffer arc ensures that both components are supple and elastic as opposed to old and brittle.

Expand the primer bulb assembly back into position on the compressor, taking care not to dislodge the gas lines which you have attached to the primer bulb, carburetor and fuel tank. Reattach the air filter housing into the backpack unit. Replace the air filter and air filter cover and screw them into position.

Push the primer bulb several times to make sure it now produces fuel into the engine. A sense of opposition in the bulb and the noise of fuel moving through the gas lines have been indications that all is well.
