Welcome with Some Plaid

Warm up a tabletop, study or bedroom with the timeless look of tartan
It was the Scottish plaid fabric was only utilized in hunting lodges, kilts or school uniforms. But tartan has arrived to the interior design world in a huge way, and the fabric feels especially suitable for winter, when it immediately adds a touch of warmth to a room. The look can vary from equestrian elegant to cozy and family-friendly.

These seats feel so unexpected for the distance, which is airy and light. The dark tartan upholstery grounds the room and gives it warmth, while also making it a little more casual. Along with the nailhead detailing on the seats is oh-so-English nation.

This is definitely a variation on the traditional black Macfarlane tartan, but it’s the same idea. The headboards look so dramatic with the tartan fabric — and could be paired with any colour bedspread. The red-striped pattern adds a wintery touch, finished from the brownish walls and small mounted antlers in the center.

It’s difficult to place the tartan here, it’s so subtlety incorporated to the décor: The throw cushions on the couch are a muted tartan; they add a layer of casual upholstery to the heavy-on-leather room.
